If you're like me, you often use email as a reminder/to-do list for yourself and your team members. But the massive number of emails that occupy my inbox day after day tend to bury those reminders, making it difficult to keep them organized, and even more difficult for me to remember they even existed.

I found a simple and free solution to this dilemma in Followupthen.com. Described by its makers as "a magical, instant-followup machine," this program allows you to either forward an email, or create and send a new email, to yourself on the date and time that you designate. For example, if you don't want to deal with a colleague's email request the minute you get it, but want to be reminded to deal with it in two days, then you simply forward that email to followupthen.com, designating that it will be sent to you in two days. (This works after a quick and easy set-up process.) Or, if you keep forgetting your wife's birthday, you can set up an annual reminder to be emailed to you every year on the date you assign.
